How do the retainer programs work?

These programs were designed to offer you competitive rates for top quality web design and maintenance services, giving you peace of mind that a knowledgeable and reliable expert is available to you for whatever you need. I’ve been using these programs for years to help my regular clients update their websites, support them through challenges, and complete custom projects. Through these programs, you’ll lock in at a discounted hourly rate and know that you’ve got an experienced web developer available to you and committed to your project. These programs have unique benefits and policies that I’ve established to clarify how things work. Please read them carefully and feel free to ask any questions you have before you make a purchase.

When are you available?

I’m working and available Monday through Friday, from 10am to 4pm EST. At 4pm I stop answering emails and taking new requests for the day, although I may keep working for a while. Generally I’m not available nights, weekends, and holidays, though I may make emergency services available to select clients for an additional charge (ask if you are interested). I also provide 2 weeks advance notice of any extended periods I’ll be away whenever possible.

What do the response times mean?

My regular clients will tell you how thrilled they are with how quickly I get back to them and take care of their requests. Very often, it’s the same day! However since my schedule can vary a bit, I’ve structured the response times for these programs to give the highest priority to my ongoing clients. With the higher level programs, you’re guaranteed to have the work completed within a matter of days, if not the same day.

Why is there a weekly limit?

In order to keep a consistent schedule, each program has a different limit of hours that can be used per week. The limits are there so that one project can’t overwhelm my schedule for the week and crowd out other clients. This helps me guarantee I’ll be available to you. However, if an exception comes up and you need a bit more time in a given week, I may still be able to help you out. Feel free to ask!

Do the hours expire?

Yes, the hours do expire, but only after one year from your purchase date. The reason for the expiration is so that I can move on to and commit to new projects, and maintain a reliable schedule while doing so. This expiration helps me keep prices low and get to your needs quickly while you have me on retainer.

Can I get a refund?

Due to the nature of this work, I do not offer refunds for these programs. As soon as you make your purchase, I’m pledging my time and energy to your project at the exclusion of other projects, so even if you decide you no longer want the hours, I cannot offer you a refund for them. I’m always happy to work with you to find a way to put the time to good use.

If I get a package, can I call or text you any time?

I’m always happy to schedule a phone call with you during the workweek using the hours you have available. Generally I do not answer unscheduled phone calls during the work day as it disrupts my work for other clients. The fastest way to get my attention during the day is to email me – I guarantee you’ll get a quick response, and we can hop on the phone if my schedule allows. What’s a Client Dashboard?

If you buy any of these packages, you’ll get access to your very own Client Dashboard, which is where I’ll log the hours used for your project, and keep a record of all your past purchases. You’ll be able to log in and see how many hours have been used, and how much time is left. Please note this is not updated instantly, it may take a few days for the time entries to appear. If you need an up to date total, feel free to ask.
